1 John 1:1-4

1. Whom do you think John is including in the “we” discussed in verses 1-4? Why do you think this?

 

 

 

2. What two levels of fellowship does John mention? Are these dependent upon each other?  Can you have one kind of fellowship without the other?

 

 

 

3. When John talks about “that which was from the beginning” in verse 1, what is he talking about?

 

 

 

4. In what ways had they witnessed the “Word of life”?

 

 

 

5. What did they do with the information that they gathered from what they witnessed?




1 John 1:5-2:2

6. What was the message that they had from Christ and declared to the listener?

 

 

 

7. How can we have fellowship with God and with each other? How can we lose that fellowship?

 

 

 

8. From these verses, what two things can we do or say to make ourselves liars (also see 2:4)?

 

 

 

9. Is there a difference in committing a sin and walking in sin/darkness? Please explain your answer.

11. From chapter 2, verse 1 what does John say is the reason for his writing these things?

13. Please look up the meaning of “propitiation” and be ready to share that definition in class.
